Ten of Pentacles
Legacy · Continuity · Belonging
The Ten of Pentacles is the card of legacy. It describes wealth and security that last beyond one lifetime: family, home, tradition and what is passed down. It takes the long view of a life well built.
What is on the card
Beneath a stone archway, an old man in a richly patterned robe sits with two white dogs. Beyond the arch, a man and a woman talk, and a child reaches toward one of the dogs. Ten pentacles are set across the scene, and a family coat of arms hangs on the wall.
The three generations show family and continuity. The archway leads into an established home or estate. The dogs are loyalty, and the coat of arms is heritage and belonging. The ten pentacles, arranged in a careful pattern, suggest wealth that has been ordered and kept over time.
Ten of Pentacles, upright
Upright, the Ten of Pentacles describes lasting security: family wealth, inheritance, property, long-term plans and the comfort of belonging to something established.
It favours building for the long term, with the next generation, or your future self, in mind.
Ten of Pentacles, reversed
Reversed, the Ten of Pentacles can show family conflict, disputes over money or inheritance, or financial instability.
It may also describe taking risks with what should be protected, or breaking away from family expectations. The reversed card asks what security truly means to you.
