The Two of Swords is the card of a difficult choice. Two options pull in different directions, and it feels safer not to choose at all. It describes stalemate, careful balance and avoidance.

01

A woman in a white robe sits on a stone bench with a blindfold over her eyes, holding two long swords crossed over her chest. Behind her is the sea, scattered with rocks, and a crescent moon hangs in the sky.

The blindfold shows a choice made without seeing everything, or a refusal to look. The crossed swords are two options held in perfect balance, and also a guard around the heart. The calm sea with its rocks suggests feelings kept under control, and the moon is intuition, waiting to be used.

02

Upright, the Two of Swords describes indecision or stalemate: a choice you are putting off, or a situation in which two sides are held in tense balance.

It asks what information you are missing, or avoiding. Sometimes the way forward begins by taking off the blindfold.

03

Reversed, the Two of Swords can show the stalemate breaking: hidden information coming to light, or a decision finally being made.

It may also describe feeling overwhelmed, or being pulled between people who disagree. The reversed card asks you to make the choice that is yours to make, honestly.

04

In love, the Two of Swords can describe avoiding a decision, or a cautious standoff in which neither person wants to open up first.

What it means for you: What is being avoided depends on your question and your situation.

What it means for you: Which choice it points to depends on where you stand at work.

With money, the Two of Swords can describe a decision you have been putting off. It favours gathering the facts, and then choosing.

What it means for you: What it suggests for your finances is personal. A reading offers reflection, never financial advice.

Usually “undecided”.

As a yes or no card, the Two of Swords usually says the answer is still undecided. It suggests that a choice, possibly yours, has to be made first.

A meaning is general. Your reading is not.
