Two of Wands
Planning · Choice · Horizon
The Two of Wands is the card of planning. A first success is in hand, and the wider world is calling. It describes the moment of standing at the edge of what you know and deciding which future to reach for.
What is on the card
A man in a red hat stands on the battlements of a castle, holding a small globe in one hand and a wand in the other. A second wand is fixed to the wall beside him, and he looks out over the sea and distant land. On the stone is a cross of red roses and white lilies.
The globe is the world of possibility, held in his hand but not yet explored. The castle is security already built, and the view beyond it is everything he has not tried. The roses and lilies pair desire with a pure intention. The card has long been read as the restlessness of someone who has much, yet wants more than his walls can give.
Two of Wands, upright
Upright, the Two of Wands asks you to plan the next step: travel, expansion, a move or a bigger goal. You have a foundation; now you are choosing where to take it.
It favours vision joined to a decision. Looking at the horizon is the beginning, but the card asks which direction you will actually commit to.
Two of Wands, reversed
Reversed, the Two of Wands can show fear of leaving what is familiar, or plans that stay in your head because the next step feels too uncertain.
It may also describe a choice postponed, or a plan made without enough thought for what it needs. The reversed card asks what is keeping you behind the walls.
