Ace of Cups
Opening · Feeling · Renewal
The Ace of Cups is the card of an open heart. Feeling overflows: love, compassion, joy or a sense of being deeply moved. It describes emotional beginnings and a heart ready to give and receive.
What is on the card
A hand rises from a cloud holding a golden cup that overflows with streams of water. A white dove descends toward the cup carrying a small wafer marked with a cross, and water lilies float on the pool below.
The overflowing cup is feeling that cannot be contained, love with more than enough to share. The dove is peace and a blessing from above. The water lilies are emotional growth rising from deep water, and the falling drops suggest grace that keeps arriving.
Ace of Cups, upright
Upright, the Ace of Cups describes a new emotional beginning: love, friendship, compassion, creativity or a sense of spiritual renewal.
It asks you to receive as well as give. Letting yourself feel fully is part of what the card offers.
Ace of Cups, reversed
Reversed, the Ace of Cups can show feelings held back or blocked: love that is not expressed, or a heart closed after hurt.
It may also describe emotional instability, or pouring out care until little is left for yourself. The reversed card asks what would let your feelings flow freely again.
