Temperance is the card of balance. It describes the patient blending of opposites into something steady and whole. Its pace is unhurried: healing and harmony arrive through small, consistent adjustments.

01

A winged angel stands with one foot on land and the other in a pool, pouring water between two cups. A square and triangle are marked on the robe, irises grow at the water’s edge, and a path leads up toward a soft light between the mountains.

Pouring between two cups is the art of mixing in the right measure. One foot on land and one in water is balance between the practical and the emotional. The irises are often linked to hope, and the path toward the light suggests that patience leads somewhere meaningful.

02

Upright, Temperance asks for moderation and patience. It favours the middle path, calm communication and steady progress over extremes.

It is also a card of healing. Relationships, health and plans can recover when they are given time and gentle, consistent care.

03

Reversed, Temperance can show imbalance: excess, rushing, or swinging between extremes. It may point to conflict caused by impatience.

The reversed card asks where you have lost your centre and what small change would bring things back into balance.

04

In love, Temperance describes harmony, compromise and a relationship that grows steadily. It favours patience and meeting each other halfway.

What it means for you: Where balance is needed in your relationship depends on your question and what is happening between you.

With money, Temperance favours moderation: balanced spending and saving, and patience with long-term goals.

What it means for you: How this applies to your finances is personal. For money decisions, a reading offers reflection, never financial advice.

Usually “yes, with patience”.

As a yes or no card, Temperance usually leans toward yes, but slowly. It suggests the outcome depends on balance and steady effort rather than haste.

A meaning is general. Your reading is not.
